Note: When scrubbing, use firm vertical strokes or a circular motion starting with your neck and working down.
2 cups fine salt (not iodized salt)
1 cup olive oil (or sunflower, soya, canola)
Blend the salt and oil together. Wet your body in the shower and gently scrub your entire body for about a minute in each area, focusing on your knees and elbows. Note: Do not use this scrub if you have extremely sensitive skin, or irritated areas.
Why it works: Salt is a natural astringent and antiseptic and is used in removing dead skin. Because it can be drying, it is better mixed with emollient oils that can moisturize the body.
Note: Do not use salt with iodine (iodized salt) as iodine can cause acne like eruptions and contact dermatitis. Instead, pound rock-salt with a mortar and pestle to make it fine.
